BEACHES and SPORTS

The beach of Akumal (that in Maya language means place of the turtles) welcomes you with its white arena and with calm and warm waters. Akumal is also a point of departure for an amusing snorkeling to do a few meters from the shore, or for a day on the boat.

In Akumal there is the most rigged diving Center of the Coast, in collaboration with the CEA - Ecological Center Akumal - for the sighting of the turtles that every year reach the shore for the deposition of the eggs.

Less than two km from the entry of Akumal you can find Caleta Yal-Ku: you can swim in a natural aquarium. It’s a unique and unforgettable experience.

PARKS AND NATURE

In the north and south of Akumal, along the whole Maya Coast you can visit many natural sea parks (such as Xca-ret, Xel-has, Kantun-Chen, Hidden World)

In Puerto Aventura you can play with the dolphins and in Tulum you can practise Kyte-surf.

It’s also possible to have a bath or to swim in the crystalline waters of the cenotes disseminated inside the coast.

CULTURE

In twenty minutes there is the archelogical site of Tulum, the only Maya site exposed directly on the sea, it’s preserved in perfect conditions. Cheered by a suggestive inlet, so you can combine a cultural visit with a calm bath.

The archelogical site of Coba, situated inside the jungla, can be visited on foot or by bicycle, it ‘s in an hour of distance.

In two hours you can reach the site of Chicen-Itza, with its imposing Castillo, mentioned among the seven wonders of the World.

FUN TIME AND TOURS

In twenty minutes ther is for you the crowded Playa of Carmen, for the shopping in the 5 Avenida and the numerous nighttime places...as well as to set sail to the Cozumel island!

Akumal, situated exactly in the center of the Maya Coast, is also a good point of departure for Chiapas and Belize, as well as to explore the whole peninsula of the Yucatan with its colors and tastes.
